Well, some nasty weather rolled in and left a sheet of ice on the parking lot of my apartment. I couldn’t even get to my car, much less drive to the commuter lot.
So my husband and I stayed home.
We talked for a while and watched a couple of “sneaky Christian movies” (from ChristianCinema.com – great family-friendly movies). If you want a good movie with a good message, but with drama and suspense, I highly recommend “In the Blink of an Eye.” It is a great movie about how you have to give your whole heart to Jesus. But it is quite a story to get there.
And I made a skirt.
I had bought some material and my husband gave me a sewing machine for Christmas. So, while he was resting I cut out the pattern and made a skirt. It is really pretty and very warm.
Scripture: I desire to do Your will, O my God; Your law is within my heart. – Psalm 40:8
This was the lead for one of my (email) devotionals today and it was a jolt. It was about finding the will of God in my life. It had some good information, but the part that really stood out for me talked about spending time with God.
Observation: We can’t know what God wants from out lives if we don’t know Him and we can’t know Him if we don’t spend time with him.
Application: I need to spend more time reading my Bible and praying. I do spend time, but I feel like this is a push to do more – I need to do more. This means I need to displace other things in my life and spend time with God instead. I would do it for my husband, for my kids, I need to do it for God too.
Prayer: I am praying that God shows me what He wants from my life, but it is rude for me to ask Him these important questions then say, “But hurry, I don’t have long to spend with you today.”
So now I am shifting my prayer to asking God to help me be more disciplined, submissive and obedient in this area.
