(from “Praying God’s Word: For Teens and Young Adults” May 2012)

1 First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
~1 Timothy 2:1-2

Lord, I give thanks for our government. Lord, lift up those in authority over us, imparting wisdom and compassion and a heart for You.

Jesus, move through our government, seeking out your saints, binding us together so that we present an insurmountable force against the enemy, carrying Your spirit through every hall, into every office, touching every heart and mind.
Pour out Your spirit onto them and make Your Word known to them. Cause them to be men and women of integrity and obedient to Your Word for us. Open their ears to Godly counsel and soften their hearts so that they may receive it.
Let Your power and glory move through this place, Lord, easing burdens and bringing peace to troubled hearts and minds. Silence the enemy, binding him in Jesus’ precious name so that he may no longer operate against us, against our country, against our government, against our leadership.
In Jesus name. Amen.
